- Blocktronics - _,:ANSi & ASCii artists united and beyond the pixel:,._ As the BBS-scene declined with the coming of internet, the scenes related to it did aswell - except some... A few still do what we all did during the 90's, Blocktronics on the other hand has evolved into something much more and transcended from BBS gfx/Fullscreen DOS (mode 147, 24Lenght/50Width Screen)/ etc and not just changed so it's accessable through todays OS's and GFX usage. Just moving the BBS scene from individual nodes on dialup phone modems to being accessable through Telnet isn't enough to create the same excitement and give the same experience as 15 years ago. Blocktroncis have however - together with Pablodraw (<3 ETO ). support from sixteencolors.org (Thx doug, brian) and more - stepped it all up into a new platform where the creating has become much more interactive and fluid instead of solitary sessions and quick dialup connections switching files and information. From T-shirts and Coffée mugs, breaking every record on longest, biggest, most people collaborating on one piece of art together etc to winning every lowrez compo, still doing bbs request - staying connected with the roots. Off course everything in between aswell - but maybe most of all what has been created is a collective. A family of a bigger blend of people of different origins around the world, oppinions, age, sex, fashion, poor or rich. . All made up of the most creative people I can think off from tattoo artists, excellent painters of the traditional arts (oil, aquarell, calligraphy/shodou etc) to art directors and programmers. Some Family fathers & some being NEET's. Elites & llam(a)ers - gamers & shamers. The variety of characters with the one common factor of creativity and a tendency to think outside the box while maintining perspective makes one nice big gumbo soup of varuious feels~. To pick one I value most the bond of brotherhood that's grown forth over the years. From way back until now and beyond, Blocktronics/b7 is where things will happen. All the elder groups where b7 has sprung out from are pretty much extinct. The individuals in the groups didn't always leave though and (borrowing tech from the Borg) assembled into one big one thats greatly organized and kept alive. (Luciano, Chris, RadMan, Fever, Ivan being samples and the rest of the paint bucket I can't write down. Salute!) B7 is the first born in many years and besides from barely noticable efforts from other individuals and groups - maybe the last aswell as it transcends and no new seeds are planted. With the roster this last great battleship has I have no fears for it however and am only excited to what will come next, not just what's allready being done monthly with pack releases etc but the truly new things I know are coming, maybe xbin incorporation will be molded into the ultimate expression of ANSi. Maybe it will restructure completely and change medias alltogether. I just know it'll be something great. Those of you that may read this and not really understand - all I can say is sorry, I can't help that you'll be missing out on this epic journey which might just last until another generation and then another. //Sephiroth (B7,MiSTiGRIS,SAC,SADiST) Stockholm, Sweden. 21/1 - 2015, 03:46.
