  we were back in form for this week's blender, with a good turnout, and lots
  of fun.  there were a variety of formats, including ansi, ascii, vga, and
  our very first shockwave animation.  i was impressed with the variety of
  ideas people came up with, from a presidential marshmallow toast, to a
  crow vendetta.  good work, people!

  something very unusual happened that delayed this pack a bit - a scandal!
  mongoose, of cia originally won first place, with his vga entry.  he told
  me that he drew the bill clinton picture himself.  upon seeing it, i
  thought "wow, this guy should be drawing for the newspapers!"  the quality
  of that picture was why he won.

  well, it was too good to be true!  turns out that mongoose, aka chris perry,
  aka pixel prophet, is a known ripper, who has stolen a fair amount of
  commercial work from ice.  with a little detective work, we found out that
  the clinton pic was scanned from somewhere.  mongoose eventually came clean,
  after pretending that "chris perry" had ripped him.

  so, the first place rank has been taken from his entry.  there's nothing
  wrong with clip-art, so his entry is still included in the pack.  but, the
  fact that it's all clip-art makes it rank lower.

grymmjack entries here.  i'm not
  what made you guys think of the crow, but
hey, it works!

avenger (black maiden) * 1 * - ave-b2k4.ans (ansi) - the fact that you drew
an accurate coastline of
ireland alone is impressive, but that's a
damn good smallscale toon clinton.

blue devil (cia)  -   us-cia.jpg (vga) - this is the second of
mongoose two entries with the
controversial clinton pic.  i must say,
controversy follows the prez even to the
blender. =)

darkmoon (cia)    - dm-ble~1.gif (bitmap) - this was a bitmap,
converted to gif to
save on size.  this is hardcore drawing,
no filters here, baby!

drain (dental)    - drn-b2k4.ans (ascii) - not bad, you've got an
interesting font style.

goatboy (sane)    -  go-bcbs.ans (ansi) - this is the most wacked-
out interpretation that
i've ever seen in the blender.  dog?  tree?
whoa. =)

gould (eclipse) * 2 * -  lm-bill.ans (ansi) - goes to show that for
some people, ansi is just
like riding a bike - you never forget, and
it's got cool streamers from the handlebar.

ikarus (cia)      -  ik_blen.jpg (vga) - this looks like the promo
poster for some kind of
movie.  clinton looks very fierce. =)

lamont cranston (cia) -  lc-sean.lit (text) - *hint* read the first
letters in the line down-
wards! *hint*  i didn't see it the first
time.  duh..

luminator (sodapop) * 3 *    - lum-bill.exe (shockwave) - wow, a full-scale
multimedia pres-
entation!  the scottish connection is weak
(other places DO have green hills), but it
definitely deserves to place.

mongoose (cia)  -  mgs-b2k.jpg (vga) - good composition, and a
pretty cool font.  in the
future, actual drawing, even if it's less-
polished, will get you higher standings.

nightstalker (poffelipoff)   -    ns-mm.jpg (vga) - *gasp* it's not a rip!
this is the first actual
screen capture submission we've had.  i
don't know how you managed to chat with this,even just long enough to capture it.

pike (poffelipoff)      - pk!blnd4.rip (ripscrip) - the only thing missing
from this intimate
   campfire is the dozens of secret service
agents, hiding in the forest. =)

 i want to make clear, the point of the blender is to take the three given
 words, and create something about them.  using pre-created work is not the
 point of the blender.  any pre-created work will be disregarded when i
 judge the entries.  if i find out that you're trying to submit old work
 as something new, you'll be disqualified, and your group will lose any
 points that entry got you.

 the idea you submit may NOT be anything which might be of benefit to you if
 picked.  example: you run a board named 'extraterrestial mongolian earwax
 factory'.  the idea you submit can't be extraterrestial, mongolia, earwax, or
 factory.

 please do not name your files: blender.*, blender2.*, us-blend.*, or
 any variations of those filenames.

 all entries must be submitted with the file ENTRY.FRM, filled out with your
 information.  it just makes it easier to keep track of people.  to get the
 file, type !form during the competition, or get it in the RULES section of
 our webpage, any time.  once you're ready to submit, fill out the form,
 and zip that and your entry into a file called yournick.ZIP.

 you may submit any number of files, but they must not exceed 150k zipped,
 with the entry form.

 the files you submit may be anything.  ascii, ansi, gif, s3m, lit, rip, etc.

 joints are allowed, with up to 3 people on a team.  why?  to make things
 generally more fair, and to make judging easier for us.

 your masterpiece can be a board ad, or a logo.  it can be anything.  it can
 even be a config.sys file.

 you can submit entries any time during the compo.  if one of the judges is
 on irc, you can dcc it to us.  you can also use our ftp site any time.
