CONFIDENTIAL DOCUMENT : DO NOT FORWARD / DISTRIBUTE OUTSIDE OF ACiD PRODUCTIONS ...ACiD Productions(tm) Presents... - ANSI Technical Guidelines and Specifications - I. Before you decide that you want to submit a piece of art for the ACiD Acquisition, please make sure you follow a few simple steps in order to make your work 100% compatible with various sysops' bulletin boards and various fans' ansi viewers, being that not everyone uses ACIDVIEW.EXE. II. MATERIALS NEEDED: ACIDDRAW.EXE - Found on most art-based bulletin boards. DOS-Based Text Editor - Q-Edit is recommened. About 3-5 Minutes - Find the time. If you decide you would prefer to use GUILEDRAW or THEDRAW or anything other than ACIDDRAW, please take care to use a text-editor and scan for any occurences of "[?7H" and "255D", as these sequences are totally useless and will just interfere with ANSI display in viewers and on bulletin boards systems. III. SAVING ANSIS: When saving pieces in ANSI format, please make sure that your piece does not exceed 71 columns, some use 69 just to be safe. This is for added compatibility with bulletin board systems, that have message editors that crop out extra ansi codes per line after the word wrap limit is reached on uploaded messages. After your program has been saved, please check it to make sure that it ends with "0m", which will reset the default color back to white. NOTE: "" is extended character #27. Please check your DOS manual to find out what exactly it looks like. IV. COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL: If you are using copyrighted material, such as comic book characters, please cite the respective author and/or artist responsible for the original piece. Please also include the publication the reference was taken from. V. SAUCING PIECES: If you decide that you want to SAUCE your own pieces, please make sure you complete all fields completely, correctly, and thoroughly. Do not use the fields to make inside jokes, these fields are strictly informational and are used only for reference by viewers. Unknowingly, most artists never edit their SPOON.INI file, and leave it as default. This causes your group name to be listed as something to the effect of "Read the .INI File". The only fields that need to be entered in are the ASCII file type, which spec- ifies whether the piece is in ANSI format or ANSI-Mation format, and the line length which can be determined by viewing what line your ansi ends at in ACIDDRAW. For information on the constant fields that need to be ent- ered, please refer to the ACIDVIEW.NFO, included in every ACiD Acquisition. If you have any questions, please contact RAD MAN on his bulletin board, SUCCOTASH. The number is +1-408-XXX-XXXX. By The Calibre & RaD Man.
