Barriers Why does the caged bird sing? Because he's content with his clipped wing. In his day there's no hardship. In his night he's secure. And, of the hand that feeds him, he is quite sure. This bird knows no hardship, no want or no fear. All of his needs are fulfilled right here. He lives every day with a light heart and song. Certain that to him, there'll come no wrong. He thrives behind barriers not meant to confine. But to shelter and protect throughout his lifetime. LB
