Ûþ  °°ÛIt was about 8:30, friday 
night, snow still not melted

from the roads.  Two (semi-hip) kids sitting in a
    Û °ÛÞÞÛÝr
estaurant sipping now room temperature coffee and
    Û  ÜÛþÛplaying c
hess.  Outside, the winds continued to chill
ÛÛÜþÜÜ  ÞÛthe frozen roads
.  Earlier that afternoon they had
ßÛÜß Üþ ßdiscussed start
ing a new group, and now, they had
ÛÝgathered to finalize it.  The ques
tion -- The name?
±ßWhat should it be?  But how obvious; ch
ess had a
Þ°°Ýrelevance.  It was a condui
t for communication, a
Þ°ÛÛcommon meeting ground.  The
re was a short while of
ÛÜÛÛponderment..then a sugge
stion.  A weak suggestion, at
ÛþÜÛÜÜfirst, mum
bled while taking a sip of coffee...the
ßÛÜßsuggestion had been "mate in 1
."  They were left with
ÜÜÜßß°þßÛÛß    the idea.  The idea meek
ly evolved over the next few
ÜÛÛßÜÛß°±ÜÛßdays to become
 Maiten1.
þß  ±Ý   ßÜß
°±Murcurochrome :
Û °Ý
ÞÛ° ÛWell, it finally happened.  We 
got out of a bad
Û Ü Ûsituation and formed 
a new group.  Who are we?  We
ÞÜÜþßÜÜare Murcurochrome, an ex me
mber from practically every
ßÛÛßlocal group of 303 ever formed
, ranging from Raid, to
ÜÜÜßßß±þßÛßLiGHT, to Pulse (not 303
!) to daMN (whew, that was
    ÜÛßßÜÛß±°°ÛÛ
quite the long time ago) and now to Maiten1.  Tang,
   Üß  °Ý   ßÛßwell, he's not as 
old-time as me -creak- but being in
°°Fire, you can believe that he knows his
 shit.  The
ÛÛ°Ý   Üþidea was simple enough
 -- we needed a group that we
    ÞÛÛÛÛ ßßßßÛÜ   could run with our own rules, n
ot bowing down to any
ÛþÜÛÛÜþÛÛÜ s
ort of politics, no members to spend 24hrs a day to
ÞÛÜÛÛÜÜ  ÜÜÜßÛßß   
please, nothing to hold us back.  We were here to make
ßÜÛß  ÜßßÜart, and that was ex
actly what we planned on doing.  We
ÜþÜÛ±Üformed this group on the 
basis that an artist out
ÛÜÛþ° °Ýthere, oftentimes a 
nobody, or someone no one would
    Û±ÞÛÛ° °take a cha
nce on, could get a chance.  We are here to
   Þ°°ÝÞÛÜ    ÛÛ  Ýgive yo
u, the viewer, something nice to look at, and
   ÛÛ°Û ßÛÛÜ  ÞÛÜþwe, the a
rtists, something to strive for.  Some sort of
   ÞÜþÛÛ  ßÛÛß ÛÛhigher 
power which will enable us to push ourselves to
    ÛßÜßþÜ    ÞÛthe limits 
of artistic talent.  As you can plainly see
    ßÛÛßþßby the art 
in this, our first pack, I can well believe
ßthat you think we are well on our way to su
ccess.  We
don't plan on being a one-time group, but I'm sure
many other groups just starting out would say the same,
most of the times ending their lives in a pit of
Üanguish and self-loathing, eventually plung
ing
Üþ  ÜþßÜÜÜÜthemselves i
nto something "worthwhile," like working
    Û±ÛÜÛÜþ±°ÛÜfor a living, or 
cleaning the rivers around their
   Û±ß    ßß±°°Û
houses.  We make no such mask to cover ourselves with.
  Þ°±±°ÛÝ    We all have our privat
e lives, however, we intend on
  ÞÛ°ÛÛ spending a larg
e percentage of that time making the
   Ûþ ÛÜÜ    Ü  ÜÛÛ
best art that we are capable of doing, and releasin
g it
    ßÛÜþßÜÛÛÛ   ÜÛfor you 
to view.  As you can see, I truely want this
ßßÛÜÛÜß  Üßgroup to suceed, and in 
order to do so, I must have
ßÜthe cooperation of the people around me.
  We need to
ÜþÜÛÛÜhave the respect, i
f not admiration, of the people
ÛÝ    ÜßÛþ±±Ýaround us, so 
that we can grow.  We don't want to be
    ÛßÞÜÛ°
ÛÛshunned off as just another newbie group 
that will
   ÞÜþÝÞÛÜ    ÛÛ°ÛÝnev
er suceed.  We don't want to be pushed aside, so
   Û °Û ßÛÛÜ  ÞÜþÛ
that people can get into the larger groups, such as
   ÞÜÛÛÛ  ßÛÛß ÛÛACiD, Ice 
and the like.  No matter how much I have
    ÛßþÛßÜ    ÞÛ
respected their art in the past, I must admit that 
I
    ßÛÜßþßhave grown 
tired of seeing nothing but the admiration
ßÜÜÜ°Ûß±ÜßÛßof t
hem.  Many people don't have the time to put
    ÜÛßßÜ° °±ÛþÛ
together an ansi that is over 500 lines long--it si
mply
   ß   ±Ý   ßÛßcannot b
e done on a tight schedule.  I would hope that
°±you, the critiques of the so-called "sc
ene" would be
ÛÛ°Ý   Üþable to give us some b
reathing room.  I would hope that
    ÞÜß ÛßßßßÛÜ   the artists
 out there who are in similar situations as
Ûßþ ÛÜÛÛÛÜ us would take the short
 amount of time to apply.
