Welcome to Apocalyptic Visions Groovy Art Pack Number Eleven! ! Erk... don't have much time here. I'm meant to be at uni in an hour and it takes me 90 minutes to get there... infact, that about sums up this entire pack }8-) Been a busy month for most of the av guys, but not a lot of it got spent drawing! Most of the pack is from the newer guys, and you can see the sort of quality thats emerging. Haven't had this much fun since we started trying to doodle actually... apart from that we've just got a bit of krinkle's stuff (the only guy I know who can go from 0 to 75 lines in under 15 minutes) and harlequin's vga's (stay tuned for news of a miraculous breakin at harl's joint, where only his graphics tablet will go missing... in other news, apache'll suddenly find a graphics tablet... mwahahahahaha) Anyway, might as well say who's gone where: New to da clan! Got a few people to welcome in this time round! Deathstrokes back! After a few minor disagreements, he's loitering with us again - he sends out a hi to all the other wogs out there and want's 'em to mail him }8-) Trippah's brought some stylish logo talent to the ansi division, as you can see from his logo colly this pack. Stay tuned for more wicked logos from this guy. Juice joins us, currently doing a dual with his local queensland group, intensity. Greets to juice and his stylish 50 line mode stuff. Enraged Prisoner, recently of sick, has finally managed to find someone who's awake and joined up. Considering he joined about 4 hours before the pack got released, you'll have to wait until next pack, but we all know ep's quality work. Neo's another melbourne artist suddenly coming in out of the blue. While he's been busy with uni this month, he's got something spectacular up his sleave... Another last minute join after the bbq was Vejita, unfortunately he's also a bit too late to have time to drop anything in this pack, but he's truely one of australia's best up & comings, so his stuff next pack should rock.. Finally, all round legend and former foetus, Insurge, decided to drop in on us. This general purpose foetus bumped into krl at tafe, and before you know it he's pumping out some quality ansi. Keep an eye on him. Also, we've added Digital Vampire onto the memberlist.. he's the guy who did prettymuch all the work for AV96, while the rest of instability just slacked off, and he's not bad with the ansi either, so we figured we'd make him an official member... Sausages ala Rusty - yummy Amongst our dedicated and time consuming task of destroying the entire liquor reserve of victoria, we managed to spare a bit of time to burn some sausages with all the other art/demo guys from around vic. The first av art/demoscene bbq got held on a pleasantly overcast day, with a pretty decent turnout of 14 people. The day was a definate success, even if manix didn't succeed in poisoning off apollyon with sausages coated in rust. Despite a few people having to back out of coming along at the last minute, everyone seemed to have a pretty good time. There will be another for those who missed out, anyone who'll be passing through victoria in early july had better get in touch with me (blue apache), or any of the other av guys to find out more about the next one.. Incidentally, fluff was there with his zoom lens (which meant he had to stand about 20 metres away to get a group photo }8-) ), so you can check out the group photo from the bbq. Unfortunately its missing a couple of people - fluff (cos he was behind the camera), inferno was off wandering somewhere else, and cringe and dark fibre are doing a magnificent job of hiding behind vejita & wolverine, so you can't see them either. (hi mum! we're baaaaack) Hmiam issue 2 is coming... unlike some emags which just vanish off into nothing, we've decided to start with nothing (or more likely a load of blatant garbage }8-) ), and actually add some serious stuff... seeing as none of the other australian emags out there ever seems to get released (what?! was cute... now where's that issue 2 you've been promising us since january mz?), we've decided to include some aussie news and events into hmiam. Next issue should be coming out at the start of June, anyone interested in doing articles, reviews, interviews, or a group column (please! only art/demo groups and one's which have actually RELEASED), get in touch with us. At the moment aside from various physics problems (such as harlequin's detailed analysis of the flight characteristics of a wet fire hydrant), we'll have a full wrap up of the vic bbq, including the rest of the happy snaps, plus interviews and some information on coven '96 and algorhythm '96. Web Stuff It's been pointed out to me a bit lately that we haven't bothered updating the av webpage since pack 7... hmmm - hell, you could wait six months for and update, couldn't you guys?... uh... guys? Well now you can stop whinging cos the new and slightly fancier version of the webpage is being put up. While we haven't yet added funny stuff like java and that, we do have stylish things to do with frames, and lotsa stuff all over the place. The new page is best viewed with the latest version of nutscape (err.. netscape), lotsa colours, and a sodding big screen. FTP Stuff While we're still talking about the net, av has another ftp site. We're now putting all our stuff on ftp.wustl.edu, as well as trying to keep arpeggio up to date. The new ftp site is due to the fact that arpeggio's been going down more than a 2 buck hooker, besides which, the more ftp sites the merrier... we're currently working on getting a *reliable* ftp site, but that could take a while... AV Pack #10 Oh, and for all those who were asking, of course pack 10 was completely serious. Thats why we released it on April Fool's Day, put the ansi's both upside down and mirror, announced the death of ice, the merging of force, made a free offer of french lace knickers, and all the rest of that garbage. And in answer to the questions about when we announced we were releasing monthly in that pack. We are NOT releasing monthly instead of every 2 months we have instead decided to release DAILY... if you still don't get it, go out and shoot yourself.... More ranted garbage... Flick now lives again. He's gotta font in this pack and a couple of ansi's for the next.
