BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT APATHY STUDIOS. Q1.0: (What is Apathy Studios?): ~~~~ Apathy Studios is a non-profit, special interest group which supports various computer-specific graphic mediums such as ANSI and VGA artwork, in addition to multimedia feature presentations. Based all over the Western World (and all points East) the organization features an enthusiastic team of talented young artists. Officially founded in 1995 by Misfit and Borys, Apathy first began releasing compilations of its recent artwork in September, 1995. To this day, Apathy Studios continues to provide a non-profit form of exposure through bulletin board systems (BBSes), and the Internet. Q1.1 (What does "Apathy" mean, if anything?): ~~~~ Originally used as an acronym, the word "APATHY" was once coined for "Ansi People Are Truly Hip..Yeah." The use of the acronym within the group declined over time, however, and eventually became obsolete. It was replaced in late-1995 with the current group name, Apathy Studios. "Apathy" and "Apathy Studios" are used interchangeably throughout this document. Q1.2 (What is meant by a "Apathy '96 Beeeeeeeyotch"?): ~~~~ Each month, a compilation of recent artwork from Apathy Studios is released to the cyberspace community in the form of Apathy packs. This artwork often takes the form of ANSI, RIP, and/or VGA graphics, as well as various multimedia feature presentations. When these archives are released, Apathy members have been known to join various art channels on IRC and shout "Apathy '96 Beeeeeeeyotch!". As to it's true meaning, your guess is as good as mine. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION 2. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS AND OTHER INFO. Q2.0 (How can I join Apathy?): ~~~~ You can't, you gimp. You must be invited. We (Trip and I) recently adopted this policy after our 'member cut' to keep the size of the group reasonable. Ergo, don't apply. We'll laugh at you until you get all embarrassed and soil your trousers. Q2.1 (How can my BBS become an official Apathy distribution site?): ~~~~ You can't, you gimp. We have a few, hand-picked headquarter boards, and thats it. The Internet more or less makes distribution sites pointless anyway. Q2.2 (Who writes the Apathy .NFO files?): ~~~~ Currently, the .NFO files are collectively designed and written by a team of senior members comprised of Trip and myself. Q2.3 (What is Apathy's Official Position on "dual grouping"?): ~~~~ First, the question "what does Apathy Studios consider dual grouping?" must be considered. Apathy Studios considers dual grouping to be the instance, act, or event in which a member of Apathy Studios is also a member of another group. Apathy does not look down on dual grouping in the instances of personal side projects (ie: magazines, music disks, internal compilations, games, etc.) However, anything that would detract from a member's full concentration, focus, and energy towards Apathy is highly discouraged. In terms of dual- grouping, this would mean and include participation in groups that have in mind, direct competition with Apathy Studios, or groups that produce a product, design, or which have a focus similar to that of Apathy. However, I assume some of our members dual group, and we can't really stop them. Ohwell. Trip and I have tried to set an example by quitting all of our other groups (for him: Mop and Rival, for me: iCE, Rival, and Trank). What does this mean, exactly? The reasoning here is that Apathy Studios wishes the full participation and focus of its members, in all group aspects. This is not to be selfish, defiant, or oppressive, but to keep the interests of the group at the forefront. If a member has chosen to devote some of his/her self-allotted time and energy towards another, directly competitive group, it presents both a weakening of production and effort on top of an immense conflict of interest. What is acceptable, and what isn't? Projects initiated by a member to produce an uncomparitive product (this would include magazines, music disks, games, etc.) are acceptable. Projects with members of other groups in the aiding of art production are also acceptable (this would include joint art projects.) However, participation as an artist in two different groups is tolerated (in moderation). To use the analogy of having more than one dildo, it is difficult to devote 100% of one's time and energy towards two different groups. This immediately causes a conflict of interest. Apathy wishes, and in a sense, begs for the focus of its members. Without that focus, the purpose of the group is lost. So, the official position is that dual grouping, in the strictest sense (ie: being in two different groups in direct competition with each other) is highly discouraged, and looked down upon. However, Apathy is always open to special cases. These will be considered for what they are. Q2.4 (What is the responsibility of an Apathy distribution site?): ~~~~ Just, like, get the packs and stuff. And, the sysop must post messages in public forums on his board to the effect of 'Trip and Misfit are living Gods!!! Phear them! Send them money!" And, lick a stoat every once in a while. Q2.5 (Does Apathy accept members for writing (ie: literature) only?): ~~~~ Only if you suck. Q2.6 (How can I request artwork from Apathy members?): ~~~~ What can I say? E-mail 'em. Keep in mind that although Apathy Studios is a non-profit group, break even compensation for an artist's time (always negotiable) is always appreciated, but not always expected. Q2.7 (Where can I e-mail an Apathy Senior member?) ~~~~ - Misfit, Apathy Studios Founder. misfit@arena.leba.net (although, since I rarely check it, you'd be better off mailing Trip). - Trip, Apathy Studios Senior Staff. thrust@primenet.com Q2.8 (How can I make one of Misfit's famous 'Apathy Cocktail Drink's?) ~~~~ - One cup chopped kitten - 4 Liters of vodka - 1 One hundred line ansi Place one cup of chopped kitten in blender. Place blender in "Total obliter- ation" mode, and blend until it has the consitency of saw dust. Make sure it is in a fine paste, as to bring out the full flavor of the young feline. Then, pour as much of the vodka into the blender as you can fit, and put blender in "Shaken, not stirred" mode, and run for 15 seconds. Pour the now frothy mix into a large flower vase. Pour the rest of the vodka into the vase as well. Put a large bouquet of flowers into the vase, and let sit for three days. After waiting 3 days, take flowers out, and drink directly from vase. Serves enough for 4 thirsty doodleboys to become thoughroughly drunk. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION 3.
