Select your sound card and the corresponding ³ ³ mixer information. This of course only affects SoundBlaster(tm) output ³ ³ and is therefore not required if running in GUS mode. ³ ³ ³ ³ The player main screen shows some information while playing and, of ³ ³ course, a fine, 32 channel wide equalizer! Please note that the DMA ³ ³ transfer on SB and compatible cards slows down the systemspeed and ³ ³ affects the frame update of the equalizer. Let there be GUS! ³ ³ ³ ³ Note from RAY: I could have made the equalizer a LOT faster in SB mode ³ ³ but this would decrease the sound qualitiy, so I decided to give maxi- ³ ³ mum performance to quality. ³ ³ ³ ³ This is why I implemented the "/B:xx" option which sets the DMA buffer ³ ³ length. The smaller the value, the faster the equalizer on SB cards. ³ ³ Just use the value you want to... ³ ³ ³ ³ DISCLAIMER: You use this software at your own risk! Just let me know... ³ ³ ³ ³ Revizion hiztory: ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 1.o1 to 1.2o: ³ ³ - Renamed to X-PLAY because of some problems with the small D-LUSION ³ ³ player. ³ ³ - Config file implemented. the first time you run the program and ³ ³ enter the parameters, X-PLAY will store your configuration in a ³ ³ special .INI file (hi BOP, CODE-X!). ³ ³ - some graphical changes (yo COS) - think you feel better now! ³ ³ - check out the new functions! (watch the player screen!) ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 1.2o to 1.26: ³ ³ - added support for DMA's 2,4,5,6,7,8,9 and IRQ's 2 and 12 for more ³ ³ success on SB 16 and GUS. ³ ³ - added a secret message scroller ;) maybe you find it! ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 1.26 to 1.27 ³ ³ - added dos exit codes, now X-PLAY sets the errorcode <> 0 if an ³ ³ error occured. ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 1.27 to 1.28 ³ ³ - sorry dudez and dutettez! X-PLAY crashed with a player error on ³ ³ some systems and/or machines. This has been fixed! Sorry again! ;) ³ ³ - speeded up equalizer decrement on request by [ANNibAl! ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 1.28 to 1.3o ³ ³ - added new memory manager features. Now X-PLAY will run with ³ ³ QEMM (tm) or EMM installed (but you must have at least one ³ ³ meg of XMS tough...). ³ ³ ³ ³ *** NOTE: this feature is very new, so if it does not work - please ³ ³ *** do not blame us for that. Please leave us a message, and we'll ³ ³ *** try to fix it. ³ ³ ³ ³ - the GUS window now shows the memory free _after_ loading a module. ³ ³ - added DSM support (_D_ouble _S_ound _M_em). Now X-PLAY will ³ ³ double the memory on your sound card (so you can play 1 meg files ³ ³ on 1/2 meg cards). This will result (how could it be) in a loss ³ ³ of quality. If you have less than one meg on your UltraSound ³ ³ card, this feature will be activated automatically. As soon as ³ ³ DSM is active, the free memory in the GUS window will be written ³ ³ in red chars. ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 1.3o to 2.oo ³ ³ - last final release, added support for DMF versions created using ³ ³ X-TRACKER V1.0 final. ³ ³ - for more information: read the (now noe more) secret scroller, the ³ ³ command line add-on for this is /SHOWMEASECRET (easy, huh?!) ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.oo to 2.o1 ³ ³ - errm, this is a new version with some changes and bugfixes. Just ³ ³ something to use instead of the older one. Have phun ;) ³ ³ - fixed DOUBLE SOUND MEM feature. ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.o1 to 2.o2 ³ ³ - ahem. Sorry! Ray did it again ;) Killed a few bugs and implemented ³ ³ a new one. On some systems, X-PLAY crashed. It should work now. ³ ³ I hope so ;) If not, just call me and tell me the error number. ³ ³ Thanks! ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.o2 to 2.o3 ³ ³ - small bug fixed for CD rom usage. Now X-PLAY will also load ³ ³ "read-only" files. Wow, that was a cute one.... ;) ³ ³ Non public version. Only available together with the commercial ³ ³ version of X-TRACKER. ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.o3 to 2.1o ³ ³ - catched another bug (setting the master volume from the command ³ ³ line did not work) and implemented the setting for the DMA buffer. ³ ³ Beside finding some really minor bugs I also revised the error ³ ³ handling. X-PLAY should now no more reset in error cases. As I ³ ³ said: it SHOULD not... ;) ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.1o to 2.2o ³ ³ - added nice color settings. Some bugs fixed, too. Added enhancements ³ ³ for support of SB AWE32 as soon as the new drivers are ready. ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.2o to 2.3o ³ ³ - GUS output should work with every GUS now. ³ ³ - added DOS Shell (Hi to Simon and all the other dudez!). ³ ³ - DOS shell may still crash, use on your own risk. Please note that ³ ³ X-PLAY allocates nearly all high memory, only ca. 400KB low mem ³ ³ is left free. This should, however, be enough for formatting disks ³ ³ etc. ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.3o to 2.4o ³ ³ - added Show Beat (tm) (huh, just joking) technology. Songs which ³ ³ contain the string "#SB=xx" in the first line of the information ³ ³ block will cause the screen to flash as soon as there is a sample ³ ³ active on the corresponding channel. ³ ³ This also works by setting a MusicFlag of 255 in the global track ³ ³ command. Remember to reset it to 0 after the beat has occured. ³ ³ ³ ³ *** Note: If you experience any problems with ShowBeat you can turn ³ ³ it of by using the "/NF" switch which also turns of fading. ³ ³ ³ ³ ShowBeat only works with the GUS until now and will lateron ³ ³ also be available when in AWE 32 mode. No other SB support ³ ³ planned. Sorry! ³ ³ ³ ³ - you can now press SPACE while playing to change between the song ³ ³ info and the dmf header information. Just to keep you up to date! ³ ³ You can also see which version of X-Tracker the author has been ³ ³ using (for example, if this has been an illegal copy! ;) ). ³ ³ - a hint to all shell programmers! There's a (now no more) hidden ³ ³ command line switch in X-PLAY which deactivates the internal ³ ³ "shell to DOS" function. Simply use "/NS" an there you are! ³ ³ - people who disregard the fading when finishing X-PLAY can now press ³ ³ ESC twice or use the "/NF" switch to turn of fading. ³ ³ - you can now scroll the song message by using PgUP and PgDOWN. Read ³ ³ and have phun. ³ ³ - added check for output devices. You can't select a device on the ³ ³ options screen, if it is not there (well, you can, but X-PLAY will ³ ³ not continue... ;) ). This only works for base address and card. ³ ³ X-PLAY can not detect if IRQ and DMA are ok, so be carefull. A note ³ ³ to SB owners: X-PLAY will treat all SB cards the same so be sure to ³ ³ pick the correct card from the menu. X-PLAY can't see, if you've ³ ³ got an SB 16 or a normal SB. ³ ³ - new, revised "hidden" scroller. Read if you dare. ³ ³ - double sound mem should now work with every GUS! Yeah, I know... I ³ ³ already said this some versions ago but this time, it should work! ³ ³ I hope so! ;) ³ ³ ³ ³ *** A note to some "clever" FIDO users: From version 2.3o on X-PLAY ³ ³ does no more accept DMAs lower than 5 for SB16 cards. As you ³ ³ *must* use a high DMA (to let you dudes know: every SB16 has a ³ ³ high DMA!) to get 16bit quality, X-PLAY supports only DMAs > 5! ³ ³ This is *no* bug! If your SB16 can't handle high DMAs - buy the ³ ³ original! ;) ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.4o to 2.5o ³ ³ - X-PLAY no longer quits if the config file is corrupted. You are now ³ ³ prompted to reenter settings. ³ ³ - X-PLAY now supports error levels. ³ ³ The codes are different from the ones implemented in X-PLAY V1.27! ³ ³ - X-PLAY now comes along with X-SHELL2 by NiKOLAUS^255, the official ³ ³ shell for X-PLAY. Please do not mix this one up with the shell ³ ³ included with RADiCAL RhYthMS releases which is programmed by ³ ³ SLE^Q-TiP. ³ ³ - fixed a really cute bug - I bet, nobody has seen it. If you did, ³ ³ put your hands up in the air! ³ ³ ³ ³ *** Another note: Due to a SB16 FIDO stranger calling this evening, I ³ ³ reenabled the low DMA feature. Please note that you will *ruin* ³ ³ the output quality by selecting a lower DMA for your SB16. More- ³ ³ over I can't guarantee for anything because the replay routines ³ ³ are not made for an 8-bit transfer on a SB16. Use at your own ³ ³ risk! ³ ³ ³ ³ Changes from Verzion 2.5o to 2.51 ³ ³ - added a few more lines of support for X-SHELL to X-PLAY. You will ³ ³ now get no more unneccessary information dumped on screen. ³ ³ ³ ³ Goodbye and keep on raving - yours RAY ³ ³ And remember: "Winners don't use drugs!" ³ ΘΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΔΔΝΔΔΔΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΝΌ
