Perpetuity

Panting scraping,
Screaming aching,
Blood flows cool and thick beneath my skin,
The muffled screams: They come again.

The sheets suffocate and hold me tight,
Pray for Mourning, pray for light,
Darkness congeals, soaks my skin,
Saps my strength, pray I do not fight.

Darkness: lord of this domain,
Cradles my fears, strokes the pain,
Perpetuity in shortened breaths,
The strain of Recompense weighs on my breasts.

Each fear I handle like a gem,
The God of Pain assembles them,
Into a frail and shattered bowl,
In which he pours one shattered soul.

Night brings ghosts I cannot see,
I hold in chains you cannot see,
This soul that churns and burns to be free,
The pain that I hold close to me.

Screaming aching,
Painful mistaking,
Pain for Love and Love for Pain,
I pray I shall not wake again.
