Well guys, this month I have to clear up a couple of things. This last month could have been a helluva lot better. Anyways - here goes. First, I'd like to extend my apologies to RaD Man of ACiD Productions for the miscommunication error that occured last month with ReDMaN and Variation and Grifter. Like I've said previously, we'll all double check, as should everyone. It's a long story, and unless RaD Man wants to tell it, I'm tired of relaying it, so read some old MRi messages. Secondly, I'd like to extend a second set of apologies to Demize, our 'one-month-old-and-still-producing-like-mad' Member. Last month was Demize's first month... well, it WAS supposed to be. Unfortunately, it was late at night when I was putting together the pack. I was using a ziplist, and going in alphabetical order. Well unfortunately my alphabet didn't contain the letters 'DM' and Demize was left off the list. Yeah, yeah, I'm a dumbass. Well, his work IS represented, and quite well, in the April pack, and we hope you enjoy and gurgle a whole bunch over it! Next, this month we would like to welcome our newest addition - PLiNy of CoRoSioN (in)fame! He'll be doing our diz and zip comment work and some ascii login screens for boards who want them. We're looking forward to some great work (like that found in this pack, just hafta remeber 'PL') and those who are going to inevitably request them may post on any ALiVE sub (MRi or Intrusion currently) and ask him. Communication. The most essential part of our group. To aid in it, we've started MRi (Malicious Revelation International) and we've added quite a few distribution sites and a couple of member boards, and we've just drastically expanded our central and eastern standings this last week. Any board interested in a good small, general but art emphasis network, please contact either Ryunosuke on ENiGMA 408/484.2058 or myself on my board (# at end). SAGA. Small Art Group Alliance. This doesn't really belong in the alive info file, but I'm writing it so suck it. SAGA is something I started with one simple laid back purpose in mind. To promote the small guy. It's often hard for a group to gain exposure when they just start out. So, SAGA offers a cheap and easy alternative. Any WHQ for any small art group(acid/ice/gothic don't need exposure =) is free and encouraged to join SAGA. SAGA is just a small network, with simple rules and minimal polling(3-7 per week, 5 minimum recommended). Each WHQ that joins, gains a sub for the groups they WHQ(art groups that is) and then each node picks up that sub. Thus, the WHQ, having a wide selection of that groups members online, can provide a strong forum for answering group questions. Thus, the only requirement to join SAGA is that the board be the WHQ. I may, in time extend this to one other HQ board for each group, but not yet. Interested parties/sysops/presidents please email Mass Delusion, wherever you see him 'round. Oh yeah, if any font masters read this(hint : big 4!) I need a cool SAGA font.. thanks in advance. Ok, enough personal stuff outta the way. What else happened this month? Oh yeah - our viewer. Our viewer made VAST improvements this month, which you'll get to see(if it makes this pack). Internal ANSi parser(no ANSI.SYS), GIF code, shell to deadview until our personal rip code is finished, an alive member demo sequence to the tune of 'Wild Thang', and regular MOD support during normal viewing. Our version after this will include video modes, full internal rip support, and a new ansi of Maxx by T3 Cool alive font this month by none other than Variation. I'd like to thank, on behalf of ALiVE, Ascension and ByteMan for really cranking down on that sucker and getting to work on some serious improvements. Good work you two! Sites. People have bombarded us with site apps. Until after this pack is released, we ARE NOT giving any sites. As of 4/1, the sites will begin to be given out, but in such a small and slow manner, that only strong art boards will stand a chance at aquiring the official alive affiliation. (if that means anything.. =) And one other things about sites is - we don't give sites to boards to 'help the boards'. Rather, we give out sites to help promote alive, but taking on a distribution responsibility, you in turn, help your board. I, for one, am tired of seeing apps saying "I want to have the best board man, gimme an alive dist site!". No, it's the opposite, if you give us a good place to distribute our stuff, your board in turn will get the alive affiliation. It's a two way street - granted, but we don't HAVE to have distribution sites and doing so, we want to promote OUR group, not YOUR board(a little of both is cool tho'). Ah well, I'm off my soapbox.. Variation this month DID do something. While his pack representation is small, VR did in fact do a COMPLETE language and menu set for Celerity Version 2.0+. This is not like other menu sets, trust me. The docs for doing such an endeavor, unzipped, reach upwards of a meg. Yeah, a meg, it's a bitch. Good job VR, and hope to see that board up soon! Last, but not least. We are/were talking with Dosage and some 310 guys about getting together, however Dosage hasn't gotten back to us yet, so we don't know where anything stands. pffft. Other than that, march was a good month, and our april 1st release, our 3rd survival pack, is 'alive and kicking' and in our opinion, we are doing well.
