Chasm of Doom In the beginning, there was nothing. An inconceivable nothing beyond nothing. And from nothing came light and everything that was, is, and shall be. And from all-that- was, came many things. Among these things was a planet. Now, on this world it was barren and harsh and nothing lived. There was also sky. And the sky was above the land, and they were separate. The land and the sky met. And when they met water came to be. This both cooled and changed the land; in many ways. And from the water came life. And the life went to the land, and planted its seed, and flourished; forming great forests and plains. Soon new life emerged. It too came from the water, and went to the land. There it changed and multiplied, and wandered the land, as far as the eye could see. As the ages wore on, the life lastly changed into strange sentient beings. Now, these beings were curious creatures. Their minds were ruled by both reason and desire. And, they were remarkably resilient, though their flesh was soft. Their species covered their world. Their masses soon separated to what some came to call: Older and Younger Brother. And the two were separated by a great water. Now both Brothers, in their innocence, curiosity and youth, cut down the great forests and tilled the plains and put all other creatures below themselves. And from the trees and ground they built themselves up many great structures. Some served as temples to their gods. Others were constructed for the masses to come and congregate with one another. As time went on, Younger Brother came across the great water and found its elder. This was the heralding of the end. The beings polluted their air and water. They raped the land and pillaged the ground. They tore down the great forests and killed all other creatures. They preferred the art of War to the truth of Peace. Their weapons shook the land and leveled the ground. They soon rended their world asunder. They once had a chance, but it had passed. Now, could their destiny have been avoided?
